F.A.Q.

F.A.Q.

1. How are your cabinets constructed..?

In our Bespoke range, our frames, doors and frontages are manufactured from European Oak which is kiln dried, primed and painted in a RAL colour of your choice (several hundred to choose from and all included in the price). Our carcass is constructed from MDF which is primed and painted in the same colour as the frontage. Everything arrives to you fully rigid, constructed and packaged, we don’t supply flat pack furniture.

Our new Shaker Pure range is constructed in exactly the same way, however the wood used is slightly thinner. Currently Shaker Pure is available in two colours only. These differences from the Bespoke range are reflected by a lower price.

2. WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SHAKER BESPOKE AND SHAKER PURE..?

Shaker Bespoke is the new name for our standard cabinetry range. All paint and design options are available to you to create your perfect kitchen. As a result, lead times can be longer so if you’re happy to wait this might be the range for you.

If however you are looking for a handmade painted kitchen without the wait, then our new Shaker Pure range is a great place to start. Currently only available in two colours, from November these kitchens will be in stock and available for delivery within 2 weeks of placing your order. As a result of being less customisable, our Shaker Pure collection offers unbeatable value.

3. CAN I MIX AND MATCH SHAKER BESPOKE AND SHAKER PURE CABINETS..?

We wouldn’t recommend it. Our Shaker Bespoke and Shaker Pure cabinets are handmade in different factories, which may result in marginally different finishes that may appear more obvious if the finished cabinets are next to one another.

Shaker Pure also has a unique range of colours separate from the Bespoke range so we cannot guarantee a colour match.

Of course if you would like to buy cabinets for two different areas of your kitchen and/or are happy with the provisions above, you are welcome to order from both ranges. Our designers will be happy to discuss the best way of doing this with you.

4. Does the price on your website include painting..?

Yes, the price you see on our website is the price you pay (excluding VAT). It includes everything you will need and there are options to upgrade if you want to.

Upgrades might include Shaker panels on one or each side of the cabinet, you might want to upgrade your drawers to natural, unpainted (lacquered) oak, you could include cutlery dividers in your drawers and these could be painted MDF or unpainted Oak.

5. In which areas do you offer delivery and installation..?

We work all over the mainland UK for delivery and installation, in many cases customers have arranged to export our kitchens into Europe and even Australia. If you want to export your kitchen we can arrange to deliver to a UK port of your choice and we recommend that you use a freight forwarding agent to manage your shipping and delivery from here.

6. Do you offer “soft close” options on your cabinetry..?

All of our drawers use industry leading BLUM soft close runners. These have a fantastic feel and are the ultimate in drawer closing technology.

7. Do you come to our house to perform a survey..?

If you have purchased kitchen installation as part of your package we would be delighted to survey your house before your kitchen is sent to our production team. This helps to ensure that the measurements will work and that your kitchen will fit, provided you don;t make any changes to the room after the survey.

In the event that your room is not fully completed we will provide you with a plan that we require you / your builder stick to the agreed measurements exactly. In the event that measurements change from the ones that we have agreed, The Shaker Kitchen Company cannot be held liable for any replacement cabinetry costs, revisit fees or consequential losses. Please bear in mind that you will also be charged a failed installation fee – every cabinet is handmade and as a result we can only manufacture cabinets to the sizes that have been agreed at the time of order.

8. Do you charge for kitchen designs..?

No, we offer a free design service unless you want us to visit your house, in this case a senior designer will visit your property and discuss the best way to maximise your space. We then prepare a design and estimate and send this out within a week of the visit. We charge £300 for this service, but the amount is refunded in full if you buy your kitchen from us.

9. How do you resolve installation snags and aftersales enquiries..?

We have a Customer Operations team dedicated to helping resolve any outstanding issues or faults relating to your kitchen. If you email aftersales@theshakerkitchen.co we will automatically open an e-ticket for you and you will receive a response acknowledging your request straightaway – please make sure you check your junk mail and clutter folders as our responses can sometimes get caught here. We aim to respond to all Aftersales enquiries personally within 72 hours

10. Can we make changes after our kitchen has been ordered and sent to production..?

Yes, but… This will delay the manufacture of your kitchen by an additional 4/6 weeks, will incur an admin fee of £100 + VAT and could also mean further costs if we have already started manufacturing any cabinetry that you want to change.

11. Can we supply our own worktop and appliances..?

Yes, absolutely. Bear in mind that we offer a NEFF price match guarantee for any genuine internet retailer and can offer Silestone by Cosentino at market leading prices – these price guarantees are only applicable if you source your kitchen through The Shaker Kitchen Company and not as standalone offers.

12. What is the price of delivery..?

Delivery price depends entirely on your location. We calculate this based on distance from our warehouse and we offer four different levels of delivery service.

Bronze = Kerbside delivery. Silver = Delivery into your kitchen, only on the ground floor. Gold = Delivery to a maximum second floor. Platinum = As Gold service, but we also dispose of the packaging from your new kitchen.

13. What are your payment terms..?

50% deposit on order of your kitchen, remaining 50% to be paid in the week that your kitchen arrives to our warehouse.

14. What does your installation service include..?

Installation includes a dry fit of your kitchen, we are not insured or qualified to install plumbing or electric connections. We are also unable to install any appliances that we have not supplied.

15. HOW LONG WILL OUR KITCHEN TAKE TO ARRIVE..?

Shaker Bespoke range:

That’s the million dollar question! It’s difficult for us to pinpoint an exact date at the point of order, this is because all of our cabinetry is handmade. It’s very difficult to estimate how long everything will take to manufacture as the production queue is constantly changing. We always estimate a maximum of 14 weeks from the point of order but if you’re in a real hurry we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Shaker Pure range:

Assuming everything every element of your kitchen is in stock, we can deliver your kitchen within 14 days of your order. If items are out of stock when you place your order, our designer will let you know if any delays to this are to expected.

16. Do you supply handles and worktops separately..?

Yes we do supply handles separately, please contact us for a quote. Worktops and appliances can only be sold with a kitchen, this is because delivery costs would be too prohibitive to sell these at a competitive price.

17. Do you supply flooring?

Yes, we partner with Chauncey’s Flooring who supply and fit beautiful wood floors that beautifully complement our cabinetry. Please visit your nearest showroom to see more.
