Heading over the border into Wales accompanied by a burst of early spring sunshine I made my way towards the beautiful village of Rhoose, located just by the sea and a stone’s throw from Cardiff airport. Helena’s kitchen is part of a large renovation project that is very much near completion now and was an absolute joy to visit and photograph. Thank you Helena.
The nearby beach made for a wonderful post-shoot excuse to throw a few pebbles into the sea and to breathe the special seaside air before my drive home.
“Our home – the barn, we’ve been told by locals is around 300 years old and was originally part of the farm.
When we moved in at the end of July 2016, we hadn’t actually planned to renovate the kitchen – we were looking to update the rest of the property first.”
“But we inherited an old Aga, and whilst the Aga was romantic, for us is wasn’t practical. Nor was the existing 2 burner electric hob only a small corner for preparation. That’s why the kitchen became a priority!”
“Both myself and my husband love cooking and knew exactly what we wanted in terms of kitchen layout and overall look. Key points for us were preparation areas, storage space (including pull-out larders), and incorporating an island. We wanted the kitchen to look more symmetrical and create a better flow into the adjoining split-level dining room.”
“I found out about The Shaker kitchen Company through Facebook and was impressed by the pricing in comparison to other companies offering handmade cabinets.
I was so pleased to find they had a showroom in Cirencester which was around a 90 minute drive for us. The showroom provided good examples of the types of cabinets and also the sample colours were great to take away.”
“I can’t speak highly enough about the fitters Nick and Jamie. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They double checked everything with us as they were getting on with the job to ensure everything was perfect for us. True professionals and a credit to the Shaker Kitchen Company.”
“We are really impressed with the quality and workmanship of the cabinets. It really does feel solid, looks fantastic and most of all, works perfectly for our family.”
George was always there to offer a helping paw.
